1)   Annual General Meeting Update

At the AGM on July 26th, several motions were adopted that will affect the membership.  They are as follows:

a)     Approval to Apply for Charitable Status:  The membership approved a motion that RDOC apply for charitable status.  If approved by the Canada Revenue Agency, RDOC will become a charity and will be in a position to issue income tax receipts. Approval of such an application may take 6 to 18 months.

b)     Change in Membership Renewal Date:  The membership approved a motion that RDOC adopt a universal membership renewal date, i.e. July 1st of every year, which is the start of the RDOC fiscal year.  This change will make the administration of membership renewal easier especially when we receive charitable status.   The Director for Membership, Julie More, will be sending out a letter of explanation shortly.

2)  National Membership Drive

Responsible Dog Owners of Canada is launching a major membership campaign across Canada and is thrilled to announce that Bike With My Dog, the Canadian distributor for The Springer, the K-9 Bike Jogger and the K-9 Cruiser (see www.bikewithmydog.com)  has generously donated a K-9 Bike Jogger to be awarded to one new or renewing member joining between July 1 until August 15. The winner of the draw must have a Canadian address (anywhere in Canada).

Responsible Dog Owners of Canada is proud to have Bike With My Dog as a corporate member and sponsor and invites you to check out the Bike With My Dog products that make biking with your dog safe and fun.

RDOC promotes responsible dog ownership through education and support.  Responsible dog owners must work together to ensure that promote and maintain a society that enthusiastically welcomes dogs in our communities.
